Pride month recap

I love Pride month.  It's utterly exhausting, but it's the best kind of exhaustion.  This month in particular has been such a whirlwind.  From wrapping up the blog tour for Sins of Another and doing book promos, helping a friend with apartment hunting, Pride week in Pittsburgh, still missing my fuzzy little guy after a year, today's DOMA/Prop 8 rulings, and all this other "life" stuff...

So i'll keep it short and just do a quick run-down for now.

Read on for more:

My second time walking in the Pittsburgh Pride parade was awesome.  It rained on and off through the morning (ok, it poured for a while after the parade and we had a job keeping our booth dry - you don't even want to know about the hair frizz) but it was awesome.  The rain hardly made a dent in attendance though, and the crowd is one of my favorite things about Pride.  So many people coming into town to show support is beautiful thing, the sheer love that fills the air is practically visible.  It amazes me how anyone can shout hate in the face of that magnitude of love, but i guess it goes to show how unwell those people must be.

Just 10 days after Pride Sunday, the Pittsburgh GLBT community was taking over Liberty Avenue again to celebrate the SCOTUS rulings.  How awesome to be there for one of the most historic Supreme Court rulings ever.  So inspiring.  I couldn't help but think of those who aren't with us to see this day, and that is the real tragedy of inequality.  No one should have to live as a "second class citizen."

I have quite an honor today too, one of Pittsburgh's top GLBT bloggers ran an interview with me today.  Find it here: http://www.pghlesbian.com/2013/06/lgbtqa-jessica-skye-davies-reads-visibility-in-lgbtq-books/
(Also check out Sue's homepage and the God Hates Jags shirts available from Commonwealth Press with a portion of proceeds going to the GLCC Pittsburgh).

Look for us to be getting back to our regularly scheduled blog items (reviews, food/drink, guest bloggers, and general literature stuff) in July.

Happy Pride Month!
